I don't think the game is bad. DM suck in general so an AvP DM was not going to be that fun from the start. The controls on the console are fine, but like Scratch said its all about co-op play. The match making is terrible as well, it should not take 5 minutes to find a game...

yeah, I might wait on this one... (will still try the 360 demo though). Might spend the money on PC bad company 2 instead.

It would be a con if it was the same developer, but they're totally different devs so I'm not sure what game is being played here.

The 360 demo needs 8 players to even start a game and I could not find any public games. I tried to organise a Friends only game but could only muster 5 players :-(

So, we went to play BBC2 and I hated it. More than I hated BBC1. It was just too much like hard work. Spawn. Die. Spawn. Die. The controls were twitchy as hell. So I went back to some Halo ODST Firefight lovin'!

I should've thought to post here about getting an AvP MP game up and running :-(

I might try again next Friday night if the full game's not yet out.

I would join you but my TV (including a good portion of wall), xbox, every game, and accessory went out the door on Friday. Probably be a while before I get back online. Other than that from my AvP demo experience and what I have seen regarding Halo:Reach I think I'll wait until May 3 before diving back into an FPS.

House got knocked over for the second time in 3 months. First time they were disturbed and did not get much. This time they had a while and ripped our 40" LCD tv including the mounting off the wall, and took everything xbox related they could find. They left a fair bit that I thought they would have taken, but I guess they got what they were after. So a back to base alarm system is on the way which I was surprised to find is cheaper than I thought.

That's pretty sh1t Marv, I saw your picture on Twitter and was pretty surprised that they ripped the TV off the wall like that, mount and all, bastards.

I'd be interested to hear about your alarm system, we've been having some thefts out in our area (we haven't been hit), probably kids in the neighbourhood, but I've been thinking about getting some kind of alarm.

Back on topic, I played about 20 minutes of AvP on Friday and I was everything I had expected. It gave me that feeling I got when I first loaded up the original AvP of not wanting to leave the APC, just huddle in a corner with my stack of ammo and wait for the aliens/pred to come to me, it did this by giving me nothing but a pistol, blurry vision and a shitty torch but it did it nonetheless.

After the 20 minute game, I was frustrated, scared, sweating and stressed, having been in 3-4 fights with single aliens and finally getting a pulse rifle I made it to the night club and was unceremoniously torn to shreds. Pretty much the perfect AvP game as far as I'm concerned.

It does have some rough edges but I'm willing to overlook them but I do hope that Aliens:Colonial Marines sees the light of day some time, going through this sort of game with friends would be pretty awesome.

@marv - that's sh1t, sorry to hear about it. Sometimes you just hope that these kind of people die horribly.

@scratch - right, so you bought it on console, right? Let me know if the coop actually works ;)

I'm going to grab Bad Company 2 on the PC at least... getting lots of love from the fps toggers. But has the usual BF frustrations :)

Yes, I got it on 360, hunter edition so I got a cool little face hugger and Wayland Yutani cloth patch :)

I haven't tried multiplayer yet, but there's no co-op as such, just a horde mode where you co-op in holding back waves of aliens, I'm keen to give that a go with anyone who has the game, Zorro?

Anyone know if AVP can be purchased via Steam in Australia or is it disabled for this area?

It's certainly showing on Steam and the usual high-markup-edition-for-Aus prices...

http://store.steampowered.com/app/10680/

Doubt it'd be going for $65US in the US.

XFX is offering AVP bundled with select video cards (as Steam download). I need to confirm if the download voucher will be included in Australia as well...

Alien vs Predator is now available as bonus with XFX video cards in Australia (currently only 5830 and 5870 but others may follow). Steam coupon included with the game...

Well, hopefully we'll see the price of the ATI cards drop a bit now too, given the GTX470/480s have been released (and aren't that much quicker apparently).

Did anyone end up buying this game at all? .. sort of fell of my radar with all the negative feedback I kept hearing.

ATI prices have been dropping quite a bit over the last 8 weeks. Actually they are expected to go back up a bit due to DRAM price increases...

Not seeing much of a drop at retailers, well, except the likes of fluidtek which was doing 5870s below $500... with all the hassles I've had recently, I'm quite satisified with my 4890 still ;) It's about the one component that hasn't given me some sort of drama in the past few months.

I have AvP on 360 but haven't played much Scoobs. Single player stressed me out too much but multiplayer is a blast.
